LONDON( Reuters )- A former Barclays ( LONBARC ) banker claims that his Cameroonian heritage caused him to be mistreated, harassed, and denied the proper compensation and promotion after he expressed doubts about the bank's's financial model construction.

Louis Samnick, 44, who left Barclays in 2021 after working there for ten years, is the second of three Black bankers to testify in court in London after bringing a joint claim in which the men claim they were subjected to racial discrimination and are suing for compensation totaling 52.8 million pounds($ 65.8 million ).

Samnick claimed that he faced cultural aggression after making journalist reports in 2012 and 2014, but Barclays, which is defending the way, did not respond right away to an email asking for comment.

Samnick, a former vice president in the bank's's credit risk model validation team, revealed to the East London Employment Tribunal on Monday that he had been asked twice when i was" going back to my country" and had frequently remarked on his command of the English language.

He claims that when a new supervisor was appointed in 2016, he was therefore frozen out and sidelined, violating his dignity and creating an intimidating, hostile, and degrading environment. He also alleges that managers did not support him in the same way as his non-Black colleagues were.

Samnick made dangerous, new accusations of special racist concerns during his oral testimony" on the hoof" that were not supported by extensive written evidence, according to Claire McCann, a lawyer for Barclays, who also denied there was any proof of financial model protected revelations from 2012 or 2014.

She claimed that Samnick had made up the story that he had experienced subsequent racial hostility during performance evaluations following the incident, saying," You didn't blow the whistle ... and didn t see yourself as blowing a whistle."

Samnick remarked," I disagree." " I couldn't fathom why this was happening to me, aside from culture." When I completed my time collection( for my work situation ), it became clear to me that that was where my issues began.

Samnick was testifying after Henry-Serge Moune Nkeng, 35, was the first to do so on April 13 and claimed that years of bias and a hostile workplace had left him feeling trapped and afraid for his job.

McCann claimed that he had chosen his witnesses carefully, had misrepresented emails, and that some aspects of his condition had been exaggerated in an effort to refute his claims.

Samnick, Moune Nkeng, and Christian Abanda Bella, 41, are expected to continue their way into June. Vice President of Barclays Abanda Bella may be questioned on Friday.
