Less than a week after Dominion Voting Systems and its family Fox Corp resolved their$ 787.5 million defamation complaint, Fox News Media and top-rated host Tucker Carlson announced their intention to part ways.
Carlson was anticipated to play a significant role in the hearing centered on Fox's's untrue allegations that the 2020 presidential poll had been rigged in favor of Democrat Joe Biden, who overthrew president Donald Trump.
Carlson's's last approach is not clear. His prime-time program," Tucker Carlson Tonight ," consistently drew more than 3 million overnight viewers on Fox, the most-watched U.S. cable news network, and had been rated as the highest-rated cable program in the main 25 to 54 age group.
Fox News expressed its gratitude to him for his contributions to the system both as a sponsor and before that.
Following the news, Fox stock experienced a sharp decline, but they later made up some of their costs and closed at 2.8 %.
The agreement with Denver-based Dominion prevented a protracted test that would have focused on Fox's's services and content. A$ 2.7 billion lawsuit from voting technology company SmartMatic and a lawsuit brought by former producer Abby Grossman, who claimed Fox coerced her testimony in the Dominion case, are two more legal battles the company is currently facing.
Last month, Grossberg, who had previously served as Carlson's's head of ordering, accused system attorneys of pressuring her to give false testimony. Fox, according to her, exposed her and others to pervasive sexism and misogyny. Grossberg was fired by Fox, who claimed that her legal claims against Fox and our employees were" riddled with fake complaints."
Handling CLAIMS
Dominion claimed that remarks made on Carlson's's display following the 2020 election were slanderous, claiming that communications between the press personality and his team were evidence they were aware of the falsity of claims that the company used its ballot-counting machines to sway the presidential election in Biden.
Documents from the Dominion lawsuit's's filings included those showing Carlson and many hosts debating the veracity of Donald Trumps' allegations of election fraud and discussing their concerns about the network.
However, smaller, more traditional Fox rivals like Newsmax saw viewership increase as they questioned election results in the weeks following Biden's's election victory in 2020. Dominion claimed that Fox employees, including Carlson, the office personnel, and the board of directors, were aware that the claims made about them were untrue but kept airing them to limit viewership.
Tucker Carlson's's removal represents a significant step in Fox News' ongoing transition to established media, according to Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy.
Dominion is also suing Newsmax and One America News, a smaller liberal media system, for making similarly debunked claims about voting hacking as Fox, and is seeking$ 1.6 billion in damages from each network.
According to the company's's statement, Carlsons' most recent program was on April 21. According to the announcement," Fox News Tonight" did debut right at 8 p.m. EST as an interval program hosted by alternating Fox News personalities until a new server is announced.
A Trump representative tweeted," Fox News is controlled criticism ," following the announcement of Carlson's's going from Fox News. Early this month, Trump spoke with Carlson in an audience that was broadcast on Fox.
Lauren Boebert, a Democratic U.S. voice and ardent Trump supporter, was quick to support Carlson. " I support Tucker Carlson!" Soon after the message broke, she tweeted.
In 2009, Carlson started contributing to Fox News, and in 2012, he co-hosted" Fox & amp Friends Weekend." In November 2016, he started hosting his midnight show. Fox and Carlson announced a multi-year agreement in 2021 to supply posts for their Fox Nation broadcasting service.
Tucker Carlson and Fox News parted ways a few days after the Dominion cause was resolved.
